To study the situation of self-acceptance of college students, and the effect of the Restrictive Groups Sandplay Therapy (RGST) in enhancing the level of self-acceptance,648undergraduates in Yangzhou University were inquired. The results showed both the general situation and the degree of similarities and differences between different demographic factors related to self-acceptance of college students; In the intervention study,8members of low level self-acceptance participants were selected and divided into two groups (4students in the intervention group and4students in the control group). The intervention group received RGST once a week during three months, while the control group did not participate in any Sandplay activities. The effect of RGST in enhancing the level of self-acceptance in college students was verified. The specific conclusions were as follows:1、There were68.67%college students were in the general level of self-acceptance, while low self-acceptance account for14.66%;2、There are significant gender differences in self-acceptance:the boys’ self-acceptance in ability, physiology and emotion were significantly higher than the girls’(P<0.05), while there were no significant differences in the factors of social and general self-acceptance between them;3、The sophomores’ self-acceptance in ability was significantly lower than the juniors’(P<0.05),physiological self-acceptance levels were significantly lower than seniors (P<0.05),emotional self-acceptance levels were significantly lower than freshmen(P<0.05); while there were no significant differences among the other three grades;4、The scores in self-acceptance of science majored students were significantly higher than the art majored ones in emotional self-acceptance (P<0.05); there were no significant differences in the factors of social self-acceptance, the general self-acceptance, the self-acceptance in ability, physiological self-acceptance and emotional self-acceptance;5、After the Intervention of RGST, the scores in self-acceptance increased, as the results showed, RGST is an effective method to enhance the self-acceptance in college students;6、There were no significant differences in the scores of the ones in the control group, which shows that the self-acceptance level of college students does not develop or improve by nature.
