Each college student looks forward to a perfect love. However, in real life, many relationships ended in separation. Many people give their love wholeheartedly only to end up with nothing. Under the situation of lacking family and school sex education in our country, confusion and failure in love have become the important life stressors of college students. Since brokenhearted events always happen suddenly, temporarily destructively and privately, individuals suffering from psychological crisis tend to take the negative and evasive way and fail to seek advice at the earliest possible time, which brings great difficulty to the psychological crisis intervention work at school. From the perspective of human nature, applying the rational emotional therapy to the subjects on the basis of relevant theories to explore the impact of group counseling on the automatic thinking, depression, anxiety, interpersonal sensitivity of the lovelorn junior college students. By means of experiments and comparison, subjects were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, each group of10people. The experimental group was engaged in a40-day long group counseling with8times treatments and2hours for each session. However, the control group didn’t receive any treatment. The two groups had Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire (ATQ) and Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90) psychological tests before and after the group counseling intervention. Two months later, the same measurement tools were used to retest the condition of the lovelorn to examine the feasibility and effectiveness of the group interfering scheme. Results by SPSS18.0data analysis show that:After intervention, the experimental group members’ score on the four dimensions (automatic thinking, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal sensitivity) before and after the group counseling have dropped significantly and returned to the normal level on the whole. However, the results of the control group members’ showed no significant difference. Two months later, tracking test was carried out on the experimental group and control group and found that control group members’ score on automatic thinking and interpersonal sensitivity dropped significantly. This suggests that the lovelorn college students who are in normal condition without any treatment can slowly recover on their own. Thus it can be seen that, rational emotional therapy with group counseling intervention has a real-time and long-term effects on lovelorn college students. It can help improve their negative reaction when faced with the lovelorn crisis in the aspect of cognition, emotion and behavior effectively and strengthen college students’ psychological crisis response ability. Therefore, the group counseling design scheme of this study is a set of scientific, effective and workable solution.
