| The paper elaborates on a relatively detailed comparative research in the relationship between the spiritof rock’n roll and ikebana (flower arrangement).Rock’n roll originated in the1950s and1960s, and developed from the initial monotonous musical styleto becoming a cultural sign which once swept the whole world, covering all the social and cultural walks oflife including movie, painting, photography, garmenting, and packaging. Thus, it became an influentialsubcultural branch. As a branch of subculture, the spiritual features of "rock’n roll" of being pioneering,antagonistic, critical, unique, and all-inclusive, promoted its cultural resistene against the mainstreamideology. In the process of the rock’n roll’s resistence against and incorporation of the mainstream ideology, itconstantly influenced the lifestyle and thinking mode of the people. Ikebana, as a new form of artistic genrethat is strongly applicable and commercial, is closely related to the culture and trend of thought of the time,and more likely to be affected by the global rock’n roll culture. From the materialistic point of view, therelationship between rock’n roll culture and ikebana is inevitably existent. Therefore, the project is feasible.The study mainly consists of the following three parts: the historical development and spiritual featuresof rock’n roll, the influence of the spirit of rock’n roll on ikebana, and the linguistic construction of the rock’nroll spirit and ikebana. The paper, through the study of the rock’n roll culture, a widely influential form ofsubculture, intends to scientifically analyse the connecting point of the transformation between the "spiritualfeatures" of rock’n roll and the visual sign of ikebana, so as to explore the development, artistic features andits linguistic construction of alternative ikebana which possesses the spirit of rock’n roll.The purpose of the research is to explore the breakthrough of the mode of thinking and the style ofcreation of ikebana under the influence of the rock’n roll culture. On the one hand, it is necessary to conduct asystematic and related research in dispersed and isolated status quo of the present research with regard toikebana and the spirit of rock’n roll. On the other hand, it is also necessary to organize the painting languagewith the spirit of rock’n roll applied in ikebana, and to comprehensively analyse the interlinked aspectsconcerning the social background, constitutional elements, aethetical style and the spiritual content ofikebana and rock’n roll culture.The research of this project, to some extent, corresponds to the needs of the development and deepeningof popular culture, and conducts necessary and objective investigates into the present situation of subculture.As far as art is concerned, there is sifting of different purposes and the summarized presentation mode of newtechniques, and privides new theoretical support to the future creation and research of ikebana. |
