On The Concept Of "Ordering" In The Art Of Shang And Zhou Dynasties And Its Manifestation

Based on abundant archaeological materials, recording documents, and the research results ofsome scholars in Modern Art History, this paper studies the concept of ‘order’ reflected inreligious ceremonies like sacrifices and burials and other social and political activities, and putsforward that the concept of order is one of the special forms of the art of Shang and ZhouDynasties. Thus, this paper uses the concept of ‘order’ as a clue, focusing on specific forms of themanifestation of art appeared in Shang and Zhou.Through the material sorting, this paper tries todiscuss the formation law of the ‘order’ in the art of Shang and Zhou and the role that the art of‘order’ played, from three stay points: spatial order, the concept of ‘order’ in social hierarchy andthat in image-numerology.Then it can be proved that artistic activities and art of Shang and Zhoudynasties mostly appeared with a series of social activities of the ancestors, and the formation ofits work style and normative order was closely related to such factors as ideology, social customs,religious and political system.The argument of this paper aims to verify how art activities andworks of art showed the formation of social forms and ideology, and have a new understanding ofdevelopment of Art History in Shang and Zhou under the influence of the concept of ‘order’ froma new research perspective.Meanwhile, from this perspective, what can be revealed is the historyappearance of symbiosis, integration, interaction between art and other factors in Shang andZhou.In the process of argumentation, this paper also tries to use the historical thought ofConception History as one of the reference to the research, and the proof means of the integrationof image and the comparison of data are also employed to make this research approach moreclearly and the argumentation more complete.
