With the rapid development and popularity of the Internet, people enjoying a lot of fresh information and a more efficient daily life. But the emergence of cyber crime, youth internet addiction and some other issues in recent years, really gives us a big annoying problem. How can the internet make better contributions for promoting the construction of harmonious society? We think that giving attention to the positive behavior and promoting it maybe a good way.Altruistic behavior is a kind of pro-social behavior that people voluntarily taken to help others and do not expect extrinsic rewards. This kind of positive behavior is a good way to effectively promote social harmony and development. Altruistic behavior in the network, as an important reflection of behavior in virtual environment, is worthy of further study which can improve the rate of positive behavior. However, what we have known in this area is very limited. In consideration of the fact that there are so many qualitative description and little extensive empirical studies in this field, we conducted this experiment to verify the applicability of the Scale of altruistic Behavior in Network by collecting the data of large samples, we will also try to explore the main features of altruistic behavior in the virtual community at the same time.557valid samples are collected in this research, which range from11to53years old, students, workers, white-collar workers, civil servants and other industries are involved, the level of education from primary school to graduate. As is known to all, the online survey is not restricted by space and time, so our subjects are widely distributed. Interviews and questionnaires are the main ways we used in this study, we achieve a objective result by considering and analyzing what we have seen from the samples. Specific results are as follows:(1)The statistical analysis showed that the Network Altruism Scale, written by Zheng Xianliang, is very suitable in the test of large sample. Good distinguishing ability, reliability and validity make the scale to an excellent one that can be used in the measurements of altruistic behavior. (2)Share-based is widespread in the virtual world: it is said that the vast majority users have a positive and correct understanding on altruistic behavior in network, they said that it’s a kind of common things and frequently engaged in it. Compared with altruistic behavior in reality, the virtual ones have greater autonomy.(3)The users who often access to the internet through computer have more altruistic behavior. We found that the computer users scored significantly higher than the mobile phone users, due to that the later one may be restricted by some objective factors which can reduce the incidence of altruistic behavior.(4) The older group, aged40and over, and the youth one, under19years old, have more altruistic behavior: the elderly and the young relative who lives less stressful, high enthusiasm for life, and the desire to be respected, will do more things which can be beneficial to others.(5) The average time online and the net age are important factors which have matters with altruism: the prolonged use of the internet will bring some negative impact on one’s physical and psychological health, the group who spend not too much on surfing internet is the main part of altruists.(6)Too low level of education can do harm to the occurrence of altruistic behavior. The one who is under a primary school education scores are on the multiple dimensions of the network altruistic significantly lower than other groups, we should pay attention to the internet users and instruct them engage in improving their education level and ethical standards...
