On The Discourse Mark "X" In Oral Communication

Discourse markers are peculiar to modern Chinese oral communication pragmatic mechanism. The research helps us further understand what is the modern Chinese discourse markers, the formation process of discourse markers and their pragmatic functions in oral communication, which make us more accurately grasp the discourse ""markers, and use them effectively.This paper collected a large number of modern Chinese oral communication language and defined the discourse markers "X Le" standard. Eventually, the six typical discourse marker "Xing Le","Hao Le","De Le","Wan Le" and "Dui Le" were chosen as the research objects."X Le" are described and analyzed from the three major aspects of discourse markers:usage, pragmatic functions and lexicalization, grammaticalization process.In the introduction part, this article firstly gives a brief summary about history research of the discourse marker both at home and abroad. It introduces the Coherence and Association and their respective representative theory and makes a brief analysis of their indequateness. Secondly, it gives a brief introduction about the significance of discourse marker and the study on its object, content and method. Finally, it states the selection sources about the corpus of the dicourse marker "X Le". Conbining with the theory background of modern Chinese research, the "X Le" of discourse markers is given a new definition standard. The discourse marker "X Le" is considered as a expression which can reflect the pragmatic awareness and has procedural meaning under the background of oral communication. However, it will not have the grammatical components and not affect the sentence true value.Chapter2further describes a large number of selected corpuses in accordance with the classification definition standard and analyzes the basic using of it, which concludes the different frequency of the discourse markers "X Le". It is concluded that the frequency of the discourse markers "X Le" at the beginning in word turn is greater than that in other places. In the3th chapter, basing on the theory of Halliday and language function of Verschueren, this article thinks that the discourse markers "X Le" has discourse organization function, Yuan pragmatic function and interpersonal function. The "X Le" discourse organization function is divided into set-up the topic, switch the topic, continuation of topic and end topic. The organization functions in different context about the "X Le" are not same. The functions of discourse markers "X Le" in Yuan pragmatic are shown in discourse process, building relationships, prominenting topic and warning his attitude. In the aspect of interpersonal interaction function, people will establish the relationship between each other through mastering and applying the "X Le". The4th chapter analyzes the whole discourse X Le" features of the discourse markers lexicalization grammaticalization through a brief description of the lexicalization grammaticalization process about "Hao Le""Suan Le", which mark the "X Le" as a lexicalization of cross-layer strcture. The time of the "X Le" lexicalization grammaticalization is different. The pattern of the "X Le" can coexist both before and after lexicalization grammaticalizationBasing on the discourse marker "X Le" in all aspects of the above research, this article reveals the general law of modern Chinese discourse markers, which makes the discourse markers a more practical significance.
