A Comparative Study Of Cultural Factors Of Chinese And English Proverbs Based On Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language

Proverbs are the crystallization of the people’s wisdom in a nation, and are an important part of national linguistic culture. Chinese and English proverbs are in large numbers, and have a very long history. The paper is divided into five parts. The first part includes the introduction section of the research literature review which expound research significance of this subject, the objective, the significance and the research status of Chinese and English proverbs. The second part mainly expounds the overview of Chinese and English proverbs, including the definition, the formation and development of English and Chinese proverbs. The third part focuses on the comparison of cultural factors in Chinese and English proverbs, including the compare of cultural factors about religious thought, humanism, morality, life and production experience of Chinese and English proverbs. The fourth part mainly puts forward the teaching suggestions of Chinese and English proverbs for native speakers of English students. The fifth part draws a conclusion for the whole paper.From the perspective of the culture in this paper, by means of the introduction of the definition, the formation and development of English and Chinese proverbs, and concluding the comparative culture between English and Chinese proverbs. According to the teaching theory it elucidates the cultural differences between Chinese and English. And it researches the significance of Chinese and English proverbs for native speakers of English students. It expects to bring some teaching suggestions for native speakers of English students.
