Proverbs are the wisdom, lessons, experiences, and other contents that people have summarized from ancient times to the present day. They are easy to understand and concise in their expressions.Through comparative analysis of proverbs, people' s habits, customs, thoughts, etc.can be known at the time, and the historical background and cultural conditions at that time can be more profoundly understood.China and South Korea are bordering countries, and civil exchanges have been frequent since ancient times. Both countries belong to the East Asian Chinese cultural circle and have many similar historical backgrounds. However,China and South Korea are different countries after all.The cultures of the two countries share similarities and differences. The diet can best embody the customs of a country and a nation, and it is particularly important to study dietary related proverbs in both China and South Korea. The food-related slang words were handed down to the masses of the people at the time of word of mouth. The words spread to modern times, reflecting the wisdom of different countries and nations that were also carried by the history. In order to further study the cultures of China and South Korea,it is particularly important to conduct in-depth studies on the analysis of diet-related proverbs.Through the analysis of the existing research, the comparative study of Chinese and Korean diet related slang so far is relatively weak compared with other fields.Although there are more similar comparative studies in recent years, most of them have studied one aspect only one-sidedly,or have only focused on comparing one of China and South Korea. This article, based on the synthesis of other scholars' research, puts forward his own viewpoints and raises the comparison of Chinese and Korean diet related proverbs to the level of cultural contrast between the two countries. After the study of scholars, books, and dictionaries of the two countries, the definition of the proverbs of the two countries and the diet-related proverbs were summarized.Hundreds of dietary ingredients have been selected among a dozen of the most frequently used food-related proverbs. The similarities and differences between the cultures of the two countries have been studied based on the frequency of the two countries' ingredients. For example, the frequency of "sticky cakes"in the Korean dietary slang is relatively high, but it is relatively rare in China. On the contrary, the frequency of "dumplings" in Chinese diet-related slang is relatively high, while in South Korea there are few.And through the comparison of the frequency of ingredients,we can know the preferences of the people of the two countries for diet and further study the culture of the two countries. For example, the higher frequency of food-related slang in the two countries is wine, because both peoples love to drink and have their own drinking culture. This article proposes diet-related proverbs with the same forms and meanings as dietary-related proverbs,diet-related proverbs with the same meaning in different forms, and diet-related proverbs with different meanings in the same form. This study examines the relationship between the expressions and meanings of dietary related proverbs in China and South Korea and further understands the deviations from understanding dietary proverbs in different cultural contexts.Through the above research content, the similarities and differences between dietary proverbs of the two countries were compared in the final comparison, focusing on the comparison between the cultural aspects of the two countries.Although Korea belongs to the cultural circle of East Asian Chinese characters,China is a country with 56 ethnic groups and is a country with vast land and resources. It has different forms of expression in terms of diet and culture. At the end of this article,we summarized the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean diet related slang.
