In the Chinese ancient dramas, romantic dramas occupy a very large share of the show anda lot of excellent works have left. Romantic dramas have several narrative modes including”thegod-mankind’s love””the gifted scholars and beautiful girls’ love”” the human and monster’slove””the emperor and princess’s love” and so on. These narrative modes have theirconvergences and uniqueness. The dramas about emperor and princess’s love reveal a differentcolor because of emperor’s special status.Based on the basic methods of romantic dramas, we study the overall of The dramas aboutemperor and princess’s love in order to look for their unique charm so that people have deepunderstanding about it.Besides the introduction and conclusion, the body of the thesis consists of four parts:The first chapter, we define and comb out The dramas about Emperor and princess’s love.At the same time, according to the spreading situation and definition, we choose the works ofThe dramas about Emperor and princess’s love and give their brief introductions.The second chapter, we want to analyze the historical and cultural background of thecharacters. The special status of the emperor and princess makes their love include more socialconnotation. Therefore, this chapter analyzes their special status from the special identities andcomplex characters. We find that the emperor has supreme status and the empress is an exaltedgroup which is full of misery. They are in a position of absolute inequality so that their love isnot same as ordinary men and women’s pure love, which is more of a love of "luck".The third chapter, this is the focus of this paper. On the basis of the first and second chapter,we analyze and research features of The dramas about Emperor and princess’s love in detail,mainly from three aspects---the common characters, the complicated conflicts and the uniqueemotional patterns. These aspects constitute the unique style of The dramas about Emperor andprincess’s love.The fourth chapter, we want to analyze the artistic characteristics of Chinese opera. Weanalyze reasons about the unique charm of The dramas about Emperor and princess’s love,which are divided into the creator and audiences. Authors can express feelings by The dramasabout Emperor and princess’s love. At the same time, for drama audiences, the reasons are thecuriosity of people and audiences "compassion" feelings bailment. Writers and audiencescomplete a drama.
