Anthony Giddens (1938~) is a famous British sociologist, political philosopher, professor of sociology at Cambridge University, contemporary world class master in a recognized western field of sociology, the British Marxist representative figures. His theoretical investigation of classical social thinkers such as Marx,Weber and Durkheim, to become one of the important thinking of the resources of its "structured" sociological theory. His writings of historical materialism "contemporary criticism" of the "Trilogy", has not only become an important part of its "structured" social theory, but also have aroused great repercussions in the mainstream of western scholars and Western Marxism camp because of the "problem domain". Since the1990s, the Chinese sociology, anthropology, political circles, Giddens’s "the third way" concept,"structured" doctrine also produced a sensational effect, his major works have been translated and published into Chinese in succession (A total of22different kinds).In2010, Giddens’ historical materialism "contemporary criticism " of the " trilogy " in the first book 《A Contemporary Critique of Historical materialism power, property and the State》(translated by Guo Zhonghua) translated and published, causing great concern among part of Chinese scholars, but in comparison, the reaction was much less than his "the third road" and "structured" social theory. Also very interesting is that critics are mostly political science scholar, rather than professional Marxism philosophy workers. The possible reason is that the book was published not long ago, and people are not familiar with central thesis and the analytical framework of its "structured" social theory. Efforts of this paper is:based on their "structured" tenor of social theory, basic concepts in clarifying its meaning and ideas on architecture, on 《A Contemporary Critique of Historical materialism power, property and the State》be a kind of " intertextuality convection-style " interpretation, to analyze the central meaning, to comb their ideological context, to clear the thrust of its ideas. Based on the current situation and social reality, to assess the theoretical value of its historical materialism "contemporary criticism", but also dialectical discuss the misreading and misunderstanding of Giddens. The logical layout is as follows:Firstly, the author briefly introduces the development Giddens’ life and academic thought, for understanding the generation of "structured" social theory, especially his historical materialism "contemporary critical" theory, to provide some background instructions.Secondly, carding a "structured" ideological thrust of social theory, and semantically analyze some core concepts,(such as actors and dynamic role, structure and structure duplicated, power intermediary and so on), aimed at providing some pre-cognitive theory of understanding his historical materialism "contemporary critical" theory.Again, focus on the writing logic of 《A Contemporary Critique of Historical materialism power, property and the State》.After explaining the background of his writing, anglicizing the theory point one by one, especially doing some restructuring interpretation of the " authoritative resources" and the decisive role in productivity",the struggle problem of" power and "class time extension "and" the replacement of social form interpretation. All these are attempt to reproduce the original image of Giddens’thoughts. Finally, based on the contemporary theory and reality, guided by the spirit of historical materialism, focuses on the theme of Giddens’ historical materialism contemporary critical "theory, its" Possible "," theory of value ", exploring analyze of the "Possibility","theoretical value","thinking errors," the three issues, which is also the possible innovation of this article.
