A Preliminary Study On The Design Of Modern Zen 's Household

This paper mainly focus on the design method of Model Zen Style Furniture. Firstly,it beginswith the international cultural influence of Zen Buddhism. Based upon the four representativeZen Style Furniture, which are Chinese chinaware of Song Dynasty, Ming Style Furniture, Japanesechina, and the lacquerware, I will analyze the historical background of Zen Style Furniturein different countries as well as the expressive method and will summarize the design methodsand features. Secondly, by using cultural products’ three elements,“thoughts”,“material”,and “form” as the entry points, I will elaborate various cases and analyze the current developingtrends of different countries In order to summarize the major design methods of Zen StyleFurniture.According to the analysis of numerous cases, I classify Zen Style Furniture into twocategories,“From Zen to Ware”, and “From Ware to Zen” based on the inner quality and outsideappearance. Moreover, I will develop from the two categories and summarize systematically thedesign methods of how furniture appears into Zen-style.
