Actually, his own works concerning with the classics are mostly straightforward and exoteric. It is concerning with his thinking about the theology-politics problem. He wanted to find a way to explain or save the crisis of the modernity of the west. He found the classical political philosophy by the means of interpreting the works of Maimonides、Rabbi Alfa、Averroes etc. It’s the writing method of the classical political philosophers.Esoteric writing is an intergral part of Leo Strauss’ classical political philosophy. He found the new way to interpret Plato’s thought when he read the medieval scholars with the name Rabbi Alfa who payed much attention to Plato’s works eg. Ideal Country. At the same time, he found the philosophical writing way.We take it for granted that when we talk about Plato’s classical political philosiphy then we must pay attention to this esoteric writing too. In Persecution and the Art of Writing, a Forgotten Writing Method and his other works, Leo Strauss said much about it. This paper will talk about it from the angle of view related to the background of the times when the philosophers lived and wrote. At the same, we also think about their political philosophical thought. Although these two ways of writing developed in different culture soil, the west and China, we can compare them and analyze the similarity and difference. Then we can understand them well.
