Zhang Chengzhi 's Spirit Of Cleansing

It has been over forty years since Zhang Chengzhi published his novel. Along with his unique literary and political theory, Chinese literary critics paid much attention to all Zhang’s works. This dissertation takes focus on Zhang Chengzhi’s literary theory——"The Clean Spirit". To my opinion, Zhang Chengzhi is not only a novelist, or a proser, but a thinker, in great level originated from Islamism. His core idea,"The Clean Spirit", just reflected his unique attitude.There are four parts in my dissertation:First, I want to show the history of,"The Clean Spirit", which actually explored Zhang Chengzhi’s idea, from the whole world to the literature.Second, I want to discuss the intension of "The Clean Spirit ", which embodied in the idea of " rebuild the people", just inherited from Lu Xun the important founder of Modern Chinese literature.At the third part, I try to inquire the background which lead Zhang Chengzhi to invent the idea of "Clean Spirit".Lastly, I try to analyse the significance of "The Clean Spirit"——from Zhang Chengzhi to the whole Chinese contemporary literary circles.
