A Study On The “Clean” Narrative Of Zhang Chengzhi's Novels

According to the general spiritual construction of Chengzhi's ZHANG's literature,the opinion that cleanness,as noble pursuit,is elevated to the level of belief,is penetrated in all his literature confirmedly and persistently,although it is then shown in his later prose The Spirit of Cleanness as a vivid and bright flag.“Clean” basically means “sinless”,“neat” and “disinterested”.In Chengzhi ZHANG's works,“cleanness” refers to the building of clean aesthetic world,the pursuit of value and aspiration and the loyal belief.This thesis judges and analyzes the “clean” narrative style in his novels from the perspectives of “cleanness on aesthetics”,“cleanness on values” and “cleanness on belief”.Humanistic spirit has been lost since the 1990 s,and Chengzhi ZHANG advocates belief for value strongly while he,as well as his opinions and his literature works,is misunderstood by many scholars.Most criticists connect “cleanness” with religious doctrines and contemporary political revolutions,and regard “cleanness” as “clean all thoughts”.However,through reading his novels and by analyzing the meaning of “cleanness”,the concrete connotation and significance of “cleanness” could be summarized.In the sense of aesthetics,“cleanness” is embodied in the poetization and prose way of novel's narrative style;in the sense of value,“cleanness” is reflected by the hero's persistent pursuit regardless of everything;in the sense of belief,“cleanness” is reflected by the general mood in the novels that insists on the belief.Therefore,no matter from the angle of aesthetics,value and belief,“cleanness” has become Chengzhi ZHANG's narrative strategy.In the thesis,the connotation of “clean narration” in Chengzhi ZHANG's novels is mainly elaborated in depth.
