A Study On The Development Of Miao Nationality Dance In Xiangxi From The Perspective Of Original Faith

Miao in Xiangxi autonomous prefecture as "homeland to Miao" located in the west of Hunan. The terrain of Xiangxi Miao is vast and dangerous to outsides. Miao belonging to eastern part of China Miao in the distribution point of view was ushered away countless its natives westward and the position is in easily defensible and hard to attack.Miao in Xiangxi is commonly known as "Hong Miao", it has been called "Hong Miao is the most typical one" historically. Therefore, from perspective of geographical and historical factors, the Miao dance has a representative and the original root in China’s Miao dance.In addition to their original beliefs influence of ideology, but also reflects the same ethnic group consciousness of society, this paper aims to explore the development of Miao Dance in Xiangxi from the perspective of primitive beliefs. The research also provide the proper answers to questions such as "Why do they dance?""How do they dance"in the future.These answers to the questions could help to establish a more accurate and comprehensive Miao dance vocabulary and retain their special cultural value.The thesis is divided into four chapters, the main contents are as follows:The first chapter:PreliminaryThis chapter is developed mainly from four parts of the development of Miao Dance under the view of primitive beliefs namely:1. Reasons and significant of topic selecting;2. The current status of of this subject;3. Research overview;4. Creativity and anticipation of the present research.The second chapter:Miao dance and its original beliefsMiao dance in primitive admiration rituals have different levels of retention so far.Due to a long period of hard living environment, the Miao people often depends living hopes on the spirits to seek blessing. The worship of spirits by Miao primitive ancestor include God, nature of God and etc.. The worship ceremonies are held regularly in lunar time and the processes of these ceremonies also have strict requirements.Miao dance in various periods of development are cherished innately in their psychological identity by Miao people, such bonds of ethnic psychology showed a subtle, intricate inter-linkages between dance and Miao primitive beliefs. Chapter Three:Features and Development of primitive beliefs in Miao DanceAs a manifestation of social consciousness, the effects of primitive beliefs are long-term and profound. It’s culture carrier including all aspects of literature, music, dance, art, etc. are intrinsically common characteristics. Miao is group which good at singing and dancing, so in the long-term practice, they have created a unique art form with the original beliefs. The religious in Miao except Buddhism, Taoism, they still harbor a strong idea that everything has a spirit. And Miao dance is actually the outside form of original religion and culture under the original presentation of the primitive beliefs. The first section of this chapter shows various aspects of religious consciousness has penetrated into Miao dance, which "Gu Dance","Nuo Dance","Dance under the Moon "and other dance forms are closely related with the religion of Miao people in their social life manifestations; the second section attempts to analyze the regularities of development of Miao Dance in Xiangxi under primitive beliefs and it hopes to find both the dance culture of their own nation and not to detach from the normal of stage creating in history-cultural context.What do Miao dance for? Why do they dance like this? The answers to these questions could help to establish a more representative, accurate and comprehensive Miao dance vocabulary and it has a close relationship with primitive beliefs in Miao terrain. At present, a lot of teaching and performing groups to follow suit of Miao dance in Guizhou province to refine the results of the Miao dance,but it ignores the styles and prosody of other miao dance derived from more than one hundred branches of Chinese miao dance.The imbalanced development easily lead to eliminate this long trend. Xiangxi which a place for Miao’s settlements has a profound effect on the entire meaning of Miao history and culture and only the in-depth study of the Miao dance will preserve the magnificent national culture.Chapter Four:Culture Value and its Modern-Turn of Miao Dance in Xiangxi under Primitive BeliefsThis chapter, from the culture value and its modern-turn of Miao Dance in Xiangxi, tries to show how the stage work grounded and the glorious flowers blossomed from the it, and a far-reaching issue, that is, how to preserve their own cultural value under the stagewising of Miao dance.
