Hmong bonnet who universal range is gradually reduced, which also makes its ornamentation gradually fade out of sight. Therefore, the hat and its decoration collection and collation is very important. The purpose of this study is designed to collect and collate existing Hmong bonnet decoration, Investigation of the Western Region of Hmong bonnet, exploring sources of Hmong bonnet, combined Miao folk culture, national history and theories of traditional ornamentation aspects of research to discover the cultural connotation of the hat of Xiangxi Miao decoration, especially for representative butterfly patterns have conducted inquiry about gender, to explore the artistic value of Hmong bonnet ornamentation. We are hoping to help delay its to disappear speed, promote the prosperity of the national culture and to contribute to the protection of intangible cultural heritage.This work through field visits to research through to collect a large number of Hmong bonnet with relevant information, sorting and collection common decoration 4 classes, a total of 14 species. Combined Hmong history, culture, customs and traditional Chinese culture decoration relevant information, interpretation and research to the Hmong bonnet decoration, And with other regions and other ethnic bonnet to compared. Through the study found:(1)Distribution and historical aspects of the Hmong bonnet:Today's Xiangxi in Hunan in Jishou City, Fenghuang County, Huayuan County is the main gathering place for the Hmong, also is the main distribution area for Hmong bonnet. In Hmong bonnet traceability in accordance with the relevant information, Hmong bonnet is likely to flow into the region in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, its decoration historical related whit Miaoxiu historical.(2) Aspects of the type and content of ornamentation:In addition to the common butterflies, flowers, birds, dragon decoration, there are rare bats grain pattern and coins, as well as combinations of ornamentation.
