A Study Of The Image Of Frontier Poems In Middle And Late Tang Dynasty

The frontier fortress poetry as an important part of the Tang poetry has always been popular attention. As the inheritance and development of the prosperous Tang frontier fortress poetry, the mid and late Tang frontier fortress poetry has its own uniqueness, both in its contents and artistic techniques.This paper aims at analyzing the characteristics of the mid and late Tang frontier fortress poetry in the deeper and microscopic point of view, so the "image" of the mid and late Tang period frontier fortress poetry has been chosen as the object to study.This article discusses mainly from two aspects of the definition of the object of the study and specific analysis of a variety of image in the Middle and Late Tang frontier fortress poetry. Defining the object of study includes contents of the frontier fortress poetry in the Middle and Late Tang, the scope of the time and region, and the interpretiom about image, which is to establish the social and historical background and theoretical basis for the study of the frontier fortress poetry image. The principal part of this paper is to analyse image of the frontier fortress poetry in the Middle and Late Tang, which is specifically divided into the three aspects of the war image, natural image, the character image. Finally, the last section of the article is to summarize research methods and make sure of the artistic achievements and status of the mid and late tang frontier fortress poetry in literary history.As the subject matter of the frontier fortress poetry in the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty, the "image" is the core of the theory throughout this paper. In order to ensure the improvement of the theory, defining the definition and the basic characteristics of "image" is rooted in the ancient Chinese philosophy, literature and combined with Modern Western Aesthetics for expansion. In particular, to avoid confusion with the concept of "objective thing" and "artistic conception" has been thought highly of in this paper.The study on the "image" of the mid and late Tang period frontier poetry has mainly been based on the pattern of common scene such as the war scene forming the battle or battlefield life, the scene of enjoying music in the moonlight which is the typical scene of nature, and the scene about soldiers and some han people trapped in a strange land, both of whom had been abandoned by society. Moreover, women whose lovers or husbands had gone to the battlefield and many famous men who had lived in han dynasty are both common characters image in the mid and late Tang frontier fortress poetry. Specifically, some important theories have been drawn lessons from those famous scholars to ensure the improvement of the theory in this paper.
