| Trip of a Lifetime was written by a female Australian writer Liz Byrski. The story is about a middle-aged female politician who was shot and her totally changed life after that. The author told the story from the views of several characters with detailed descriptions of their mental activities. I choose the first two chapters of the novel to translate and discuss about the relationship between translation theory and practice, the basic methods of novel translation and the style of translation. Meanwhile, I choose some examples from my own translation to discuss particularly how to translate the paragraphs of each character’s language, portrait, acts, minds and figure of speech used in the novel. I hope this essay could be used for reference for my following translation. |
