You and Zai are difficult to acquire for foreigners. As multi-meaning adverbs and highlights in modern Chinese, they both mean "repetition", but their use are not same actually. You is normally used in past events, on the contrary, Zai is normally used in unhappened-events. But foreigners frequently made wrong choices in using the couple of adverbs. This phenomenon showed us we should improve our teaching study.In this work, we observed the differences of You and Zai, which means "repetition", on basis of language material analysis in both Chinese and Interlanguage with statistical analysis and error analysis. Thus we summarized the typical language environment and regular collocation of You and Zai. Furthermore, we tried to find better teaching methods on the basis of researching foreigners’ acquisition of You and Zai and explained the reasons of these mistakes.The first chapter is the preface. In this chapter, we provided some basic information about this thesis, including the research purpose, the methods used, and the values of the selected topic. We also reviewed some relative research about You and Zai.In chapter2, we observed You and Zai’s difference in meaning, sentence structure and regular collocation when they both showed "repetition".We also summarized the typical language environment and regular collocation of You and Zai according the research of Spoken Chinese.In chapter3, we researched foreigners’ acquisition of You and Zai, and explained the reasons of these mistakes.Chapter4provided research in teaching. We researched several series of Chinese books and analysis the arrangements of You and Zai, the designs of exercises, then made some teaching suggestions.In last chapter, we summarized the work and stated shortages of thesis.
