Catastrophe and Anomalies have attracted increasing attention in the Han Dynasty.Since emperor Xiaowen ordered his own sin because of the disasters,other emperors were to follow him, and elected some able men to ask for political parties.At the same time, other governors stated their own opinions on how to solve these disasters and how to advocate government policies. As the calamity gradually relied on the Pentateuch after a long time promotion and summary, we could get some useful information which brought about a great change in the political situation. This paper intends to study the idea of calamity raised by He Xiu and pay lots of attentions on the lineage of Dong Zhongshu and He Xiu to tell people what is the main idea of“Gong Yang” calamity and how this idea is innovated. Meanwhile in—depth analyzes the background and reasons of He Xiu’s calamity thoughts and combined with political practices of Han Dynasty to illuminate the classic purpose of Chinese Confucianism. This paper can be divided into five chapters.The first chapter analyzes the current situation and development of He Xiu’s Gongyang doctrine and emphasizes the inheritance of Dong Zhongshu’s and He Xiu’s Gong Yang thoughts. The author also clarifies how to interpret the classic thoughts logically and how to pay close attention to the reality.The second chapter explores the connotation of “Spring and Autumn”Catastrophist theory,studies the retrospective academic history and highlights the outstanding position of Dong Zhongshu in the formation of Catastrophist thoughts in "spring and Autumn" period, which directly promotes the prevalence of divination.The third chapter analyzes He Xiu’s calamity thoughts proposed in "the Explanations of Chunqiu", compares with Dong Zhongshu’s disaster theory recorded in “Five Elements of Han Dynasty”, and offers several features of Dong Zhongshu’s calamity thoughts inherited from He Xiu.The fourth chapter compares the theory of Dong and He to analyzes the characteristics He Xiu;s thoughts which pays great attention to study the supplement,innovation and correction of Dong’s theory. The author also combines Liu Xiang’s and his son’s of calamity thoughts to grasp He Xiu “Gong Yang” catastrophist theory.The fifth chapter centering on “the Explanation of Sequences” and “Three Que”analyzes the significance of He Xiu’s Catastrophist theory. Based on the two texts ofHe Xiu and his calamity cases, and combined with time problems and theoretical dilemmas of the Gongyang School, the author studies the main idea of He Xiu’s Catastrophist theory and grasp the era value of the Catastrophist theory.
