A Study On Dong Zhongshu's Thought Of Temperament

Temperament thought is one of the important issues of Chinese philosophy and has a very important position in Chinese philosophy.In the Pre-Qin period,various thoughts of temperament were involved,among which the study of Confucian temperament was subtle and extensive.Dong Zhongshu,a great scholar of the early Han dynasty,gathered the results of the study of temperament thought in the Pre-Qin period.On the basis of inheriting Confucius and integrating Mencius and Xuncius,through the construction of the Yin and Yang of the "Interaction between Heaven and Man ".Yin and Yang are introduced into the temperament theory.The theory of temperament was established based on the method of Yin and Yang to release temperament,which confirmed Dong Zhongshu's unique position in the history of temperament research.This paper mainly focus on Dong Zhongshu's temperament thought in three steps:The concept of temperament was analyzed and defined in the first part,in order to understand the connotation of temperament better.Then we study on the Confucian temperament thought of Confucius,Mencius and Xuncius in the Pre-Qin period on the ground of the separation of nature of mind and temperament,in order to trace the origin of Dong Zhongshu temperament ideology.Dong Zhongshu's temperament thought was interpreted in the second part by "to release temperament by Yin and Yang".Then we explore Dong Zhongshu's idea of "to release temperament by Yin and Yang" along his cosmology of Yin and Yang and theory of the interaction between Heaven and Man,Yin and Yang of the mind.On the basis of that,Dong Zhongshu's research method of temperament dichotomy and Yin and Yang was explained.Then Dong Zhongshu's theory of human nature was interpreted in a moral virtue and moral evil.At last,we focus on the basis of Dong Zhongshu's theory of king enlightenment.In the third part,Dong Zhongshu's temperament thought was valued in the dimensions of his theoretical contribution to the later philosopher and the historical limitations of his temperament thought.
