This paper will have an in-depth analysis cultural philosophy implication of Giddens’ modernity theory in order to reveal its contemporary value from a point of view of philosophy of cultural. The reason why Giddens put forward the moderity theory is that he has been absorbed a large number modernity thoughts coming from the classic sociological theorists and that keenly found that the modernity brought profound changes under the background of globalization. This revolution is not only reflected on promoting economic prosperity, science and technology development, and promote the positive aspects of human civiliztion and historical progress, but also embodied in the negtive aspects, which the human society have to face a series of unpredictable crisis and risks. He had carried on a profound reflection on the human mode of production, consumption, communication way and thinking mode in the process of building a system of modernity. He analyzed the huge changes brought by the modernity to human daily life and discussed the crisis and reconstruction of cultural issues of moderity under the background of cultural patterns.The rationality of Giddens’ modernity theory is that it not only has a solid foundation of the structured theory, but also it is on the system analysis and summary of modern society, which fully shows its contemporary value that nots allow to ignore. At the same time, there are also some disadvantages on the Giddens’ modernity theory, mainly for the lack of modernity studies in developing countries, as well as the contradiction between post-modernity and utopia ideas.
