Based on relevant theories of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this paper, connecting theoretical research and questionnaire analysis, makes a study of Chinese character teaching in teaching primary foreign learners Chinese. It includes four parts.In the first place, it introduces the reasons for selecting the very topic, the research purpose and significance, research thinking and methods, and also the innovative points. Second, it points out the characteristics, difficulties and current situation in teaching primary foreign learners Chinese characters. Third, it focuses on the teaching strategies in teaching primary foreign learners Chinese characters, mainly including teaching principles and teaching methods. Fourth, it presents the classroom practice of teaching primary foreign learners Chinese characters, analyzes the teaching effect through questionnaire, and then puts forward some attemptable suggestions. Finally, it comes to the conclusion two points:first, a common problem in primary foreign learners of Chinese characters is that students’ability to read and write behind the listening and speaking skills, writing of Chinese characters is not standard, lack of long-term memory of Chinese characters, poor sense of words. These problems are caused by many factors, teachers need adjust state of mind to solve these problems. Second, primary foreign Chinese teachers should pay attention to set up the overall foreign Chinese character teaching, choose the appropriate teaching materials, adopt diversified teaching methods. Then, take action to guarantee students’Chinese learning time, encourage them to autonomous learning.
