Forecasting And Intermediary Mechanism Of Subjective Well - Being Of The Dual Attitude Of The Elderly

Population aging nowadays turns out to be a great social problem for China and the whole world. Our research intended to reveal the difference between explicit attitude and implicit attitude towards health care for self body and mind of the elderly,current situation and problems in the behavior of the health care, and to investigate the interrelation between the attitude towards health care for self body and mind、self evaluation of it and subjective well-being. Describing the phenomenon and revealing the disciplinary scientificly is of great theoretical and practical significance for improving the standard of the health care for self body and mind of the elderly and quality of life, building harmonious family and social development.A series of research is involved. In the first experiment we adopted questionnaire to investigate the explicit attitude and behavior of health care for self body and mind of 330 old people; in the second, we adopted two SC-ITA experiments compiled by Inquisit to quest for the implicit attitude towards health care for self body and mind of60 old people, and in the last one we adopted mature psychological scale <General Scale for Happiness> to test the subjective well-being of 330 ole people.The results are listed as follows:(1) The elderly have neutral explicit attitude towards health care for self body and mind, while implicit attitude is positive.(2) The elderly hope to gain more help in health care for mind than for self body,and they are eagerest to know how to prevent and treat disease and the way to adjust mentality in sickness.(3) The elderly worry most about catching nervous system diseases, the prime reason of which is fearing the extra cost; the negative mood most commonly observed is depression, the major cause of which lays in their offspring. The most effective support and encouragement they receive comes from the care of their offspring.(4) Score of the elderly is higher than the nation’s normal, which indicates a general happiness in the life of the elderly. Retired workers possess the least happiness.(5) Subjective well-being of the elderly can be predicted from the explicit attitude towards health care for self body, whose intervening variable is self assessment of body health.(6) Subjective well-being can also be predicted from the explicit attitude towards health care for self mind, whose intervening variable is self assessment of mind.The results and suggestion will provide scientific basis for the sustainable development and public administration of government.
