On The Realization Of Chinese Language Equivalence In Interpreting Press Conference

Equivalence of register has been the objective of study of system-functional linguists who think that in the process of translation, not only the equivalence of conceptual meaning and connotative meaning, but also the consistence in style and the extent of the context must be achieved. From the perspective of linguistics, the equivalence of the register’s three variables, field, tenor and mode, must be achieved.First of all, the thesis gives an introduction to the register theory and proposes three standards of the realization of the equivalence of register on the basis of the register theory. Next, the features of the NPC and CPPCC’s Press Conference’s register are analyzed on the basis of the register theory, and then the importance and feasibility of the realization of register equivalence in NPC and CPPCC’s Press Conference interpretation is addressed. Finally, the writer of the thesis does a deep analysis of the interpretation of NPC and CPPCC’s Press Conferences held between 2010 and 2014,citing a large number of examples from the interpretation of NPC and CPPCC’s Press Conferences to illustrate how the professional interpreters achieve the equivalence of register. Then the writer of thesis proposes that the analysis of the equivalence of register may help the interpreter to be better prepared before the interpretation. The thesis applies the register theory in doing the analysis of NPC and CPPCC’s Press Conference interpretation and provides a new thought for the study of interpretation practice by combing the theory with practice.
