Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is energetically springing up, which promote the research of teaching Chinese as a foreign language speedy d evelopment, while the more important of it is the study for the Chinese teachin g material.Teaching material is on the main basis of Chinese language teaching and pla ys an important role in it. The intermediate teaching material is the transitional stag e material, which is the one of keys whether the learner can hold the interesting in Chinese language or not.< Climbing up the intermediate Chinese course > and < new step intensive rea ding course of intermediate Chinese > are the excellent intermediate Chinese teachin g materials, and the two also are used in our University. This paper will apply the contrastive analysis and data statistics to compare the two teaching materials from the text, vocabulary, grammar and exercise, in order to find some existing problems and put forward opinions. Finally we will summarize the innovation points and s hortcomings of the two teaching materials, so as to offer some references for co mpiling this kind of Chinese teaching materials in the future.
