With the acceleration of globalization, cultural exchange between China and foreign countries become more and more frequent. The impact of C hinese culture in the world grows with the passage of time and the attention and study of C hinese culture among overseas scholars becomes increasingly prominent. The study of C hinese culture among overseas scholars can provide reference for some domestic related research, so translation of some related work compiled by overseas scholars can promote cultural exchange between C hina and foreign countries. The source text of this translation report comes from The heritage of Chinese Civilization and the book is compiled by an overseas scholar, which focuses on C hinese history and culture. The extracted part talks mainly about history and culture from Xia, Shang, C hou to Q in and Han dynasty. O n the study of historical and cultural background of the selected part, the nouns under historical background are translated by the use of historical and cultural records and text and some translation techniques and strategies are also used in dealing with the translation of historical facts. After the aforementioned process, the author conclude with the experiences of the translation practice, hoping the work can provide reference for translation of this kind.
