ObjectiveIn order to discuss the study of Post-traumatic Growth and its influencing factors of cancer patients, cancer is a very serious traumatic event, it heavily affects human health and life and is bound to make a difference to people’s health and mentality Most scholars research the negative impact of cancer post-traumatic, but with the rise of western positive psychology, the foreign psychological scholars Tedeschi et al., creatively put forward the new concept of "post-traumatic Growth(Posttraumatic Growth, PTG) for the first time. Post-traumatic Growth is mainly refers to growth in interpersonal relations, new possibilities, personal strength, mental changes, and appreciation of life and so on cancer Post-traumatic Growth will make the patients treat with life in a new angle of view it refers to the reconstruction of the cognitive structure after suffering a traumatic event such as cancer. With the development of medical technology, the survival rate of cancer patients was significantly increased, now cancer has become chronic disease which can be cured rather than the ultimate, psychologist and medical workers at home and abroad is becoming more and more attention to cancer patients with post-traumatic growth. Clinical studies have found that not all cancer patients showed negative psychological state after knowing the fact of the disease, a part of patients experience the positive changes in psychology in the course of the struggling with cancer and get post-traumatic growth. In abroad, a number of studies have confirmed that the emergence of post-traumatic growth can reduce the negative psychological status of patients with cancer, promote curative effect, improve the psychological condition, and thus improve the quality of the survival of cancer patients.Researches of the post-traumatic growth for cancer patients in China are still in the stage of introduction, although there has already been a few cancer epidemiology study for patients’ psychological problems, but the research on characteristics of cancer patients and post-traumatic growth are still not enough. The purpose of this study is also for the special groups of cancer patients, to study their conditions and influence factors of post-traumatic growth, to get a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s psychological condition, and to provide scientific basis for things such as how to restore and improve the patient’s physical and mental function clinically, guide them to effectively cope with problems, carry out mental health education, and promote the rehabilitation process, help the patients with better psychological treatment during hospitalization, promote the physical and mental rehabilitation, and eventually improve the patients’ quality of life.Methods1. The Research ObjectPatients who are treated in 3 first-class ternary hospitals in Tai’an, oncology department in general hospital of various counties urban district and other specialized tumor hospital, was diagnosed with cancer more than six months, and willing to participate in the investigation will be selected to be investigated in this project.2. The Research Tools,Study a will be completed with the approval of the hospital, and coordinate with the clinical doctor, first of all to establish good relations with the patients, and win the trust of them. All the questionnaires will be filled during the period of treatment of the patients, the test site will be selected in the ward, and the patients will be guided by trained investigators to unify the guidance and the way of filling in the form. The questionnaire will be completed by the patients who are still under treatment in five times because the number of the questions for tests is large. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI), the Connor- Davidson resilience scale, the Defensive style Questionnaire(DSQ), the Meaning of Life Questionnaire(MLQ), the Death Attitude Profile- Revised(DAP – R) are selected as Questionnaire to measure.Study b will be carried out with Semi- Structured In- the Depth Interview on the basis of study a.3. The Statistical MethodsStudy a will use SPSS17.0 software for statistical data processing, the statistical methods include t test, correlation analysis, variance analysis, multiple regression analysis method, etc.Studies b will adopt the research outline organized by the writer to carry out the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, IPA and the interview arrangement of the case study. The ResultThe result of study a is that the posttraumatic growth of the cancer patients is related to the mental flexibility, the meaning of life, the attitude for death, the defense mechanisms and the mental health, the result will be showed through the regression equation, four variables such as mental flexibility, the meaning of life, the attitude for death, and the defense mechanism will be listed into the model. The multiple correlation coefficient is 0.471, with 20.5% variance, the regression equation is: Y=-17.411+0.182X1+0.250X2+0.213X3+0.026X4(F = 13.183, p < 0.05), the regression equation is effective.Through 6 cases of case analysis and comparative data, study b is concluded the following four topics:(1) the positive ego namely;(2) the positive adjustment and adaptation;(3) the enhancement of self-consciousness;(4) the cherishment of life;(5) the reorganization of dating pattern(6) six theme and 13 second theme, csuch as the change of philosophy of life and the change of attitude and so on.
