In modern times, the technology of photography is widely exploited by artists to collect their desired materials; meanwhile, photographic images are also used by artists to create their works, photographic images, however, bring about certain drawbacks as well as convenience to the creative work of artists, which set them to think over the relationship between photographic images and the creation of oil-paintings. It deserves their further research, therefore, what effects photographic images have on oil-paintings and what drawbacks they might bring. This paper is divided into 3 Sections, with Section I explaining the historical origins of photographic images used in the creation of oil paintings, Section II analyzing the impact of photographic images on contemporary oil paintings and Section III analyzing the creative process in which contemporary paintings make use of photographic materials. |
