The new century has witnessed the great development of telecommunication skills which have lead to the appearance of many new forms of communication, including Internet chatting, mobile phone messages and online news, all of which contain a lot of new rhetorical devices that are different from those in the traditional printing media. This essay tries to address the outline of the development of rhetorical devices of the Chinese language in the new century. It attempts to describe new rhetoric and analyze the features and resources of them. Furthermore, it tries to discuss the relationship between the rhetoric, cultural and psychological factors. Finally, it attempts to find out the possible impacts of the use of the new rhetoric on the language life.The essay contains five chapters. They are as follows:The Interview, addressing the purpose and meaning of the essay, making an interview of the relative literature and the trend of the concerned study, and clarifying the theoretical framework of this essay as well as the scope and the resource of the materials used by the author.Chapter One addresses the features of the new rhetoric appearing in the Chinese language by describing and analyzing them from such aspects as sound, symbols, vocabularies and discourse.Chapter Two addresses the resources of the new rhetoric in the new century by analyzing three factors including social effects, psychological location, and the frequency of the use of language.Chapter Three addresses the possible impact of the new rhetoric on the language life. It tries to discuss the issue from the following perspectives, including the definition of "language" and "rhetoric", the changes of aesthetic point of view in rhetoric, as well as the standardization of language.The conclusion makes a summary of the whole essay.
