| Envy, a frustrating emotion, is a universal experience for the individuals in the all kinds of culture background. Recent studies have shown that envy exist two types: benign envy and malicious envy. Benign envy may contain more admiration and envy, and aimed at taking some constructive actions to improve one’s own situation. While malicious envy contains more hostility and resentment, and can lead to more destructive behavior. However, little is known about the specific appraisal processes that determine when people will feel benign or malicious envy and subsequently become motivated to behave constructively or destructively. Therefore it is of great significance to know what appraisal can make people experience the two different nature of envy and whether can be changed, which no doubt for us to tame this mood and make people to better adapt to the society.Because envy is a kind of frustration experience based on upward social comparison And previous studies of envy mainly uses the explicit self-report manner, given the envy as a kind of social recognition is not normal, it is not only the pain, but also threaten people strive to maintain a positive self concept, people will spontaneously to envy and envy behavior inhibition. so implicit measure is a worth considering envy measurement way. This paper is divided into three parts to explore three different appraisal dimensions of social comparison how to affect envy on explicit and implicit aspects.
