Reflections On The Music Of Tang Dynasty In Dunhuang Frescoes

Tang Dynasty was the heyday of China’s feudal society, but also the history of ancient Chinese master of dance development period. From north to south, the deep integration of Chinese and Western religious culture and the frequent communication of the dance culture between two areas were unprecedented prosperity, forming a thriving Tang Dynasty in music and dance.At this moment, the art of Dunhuang’s dance and music has reached its peak and was presented by Dunhuang murals. The gorgeous forms and styles of ancient dance have entered their highest level appearing in the murals. This paper concentrates on the study of the Tang Dynasty.In order to illustrate the development of the Tang Dynasty dance comprehensive exposition, the elements like the timing of its diachronic point and its multicultural have been used as the tools to explore my thought.By analyzing the influence of Buddhist and the history of the Tang Dynasty on music and dance from the Dunhuang frescoes, and by showing the impact of multicultural dance style frescoes (murals dancing continuation and transformation), understand the basis and context of the development of the Dunhuang frescoes and its unique dance music and style.The main point in this paper is intended to dig out the role of the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance mixed in Dunhuang dance, specially, in its forms and styles and its formation and development, expressing in the Dunhuang frescoes.This paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter is an introduction to show the main content in my thesis, including the origin, status and evaluation of this area, study methods and data sources.The second chapter is an overview. The key point is to explore the reason why the prosperous Tang Dynasty Music and Dance has been formed, from the aspects of politics, religion and culture from both external and internal, and dance from different nations. After that, the specific performance of the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance prosperity was described, as well as this special period has pushed the development of Dunhuang frescoes in the display of music and dance.The third part is the focal sections in this paper, primarily reflecting the interaction between music and dance of the Tang Dynasty Music and that of Dunhuang frescoes. The Music and Dance of Tang Dynasty has affected the Dunhuang frescoes in the form and style of music and dance, and vice versa.And individually analyze the impact of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist murals music and dance, as well as multi-cultural factors influence the Tang Dynasty murals aspects of music and dance. On the one hand, makes us realize that the development process during the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance of the Dunhuang frescoes. The other side, so that we understand the historical reasons and objective factors Dunhuang dance style formation.The fourth part is the conclusion to discuss the found of Dunhuang dance from Tang Dynasty frescoes. This section is focus on the future and reflection of Dunhuang dance.
