As one of the80’s writers, Zhang Yueran can not be ignored in the ChineseContemporary Literature. Her novels have been issued different from other80’smembers’ works at the cultural vision, unique artistic style, thinking implication andhave attracted widespread attention and praise.However, there are strong commercialsigns in ZhangYueran’s writing. Since the novel "Oath Bird" published, she has beenexploring a way to transform from Commercial writing to Pure literary writing nearlyten years.Looking at the novels of Zhang Yueran, it’s not difficult to find the existence ofthe Gloomy Writing features. As we all know, there are many of Gloomy Writingnovels in Chinese literature and foreign literature. By gloomy character and gloomyacts of the hero, the author aims to achieve the purposes of rendering tragedyatmosphere, highlighting the heavy themes. In this paper, I’ll use the method of textreading to interpret the Gloomy Writing features by reading the works of ZhangYueran which have been published. The article consists of three parts, they areintroduction, body and conclusion.The introduction will be define two concepts, Gloomy and Gloomy Writing,summarize the relationship between the word of gloomy and literary at first. Secondly,List some of gloomy writings in Chinese literary and foreign literary, mainly by theEmily Bronte ’s " Wuthering Heights" and Eileen Chang’s "Golden Lock" as thenarrative focus. Finally, summarize the relevant research status of Zhang Yueran’sGloomy Writing.The first chapter focuses on the content of the Zhang Yueran’s gloomynovels,Including three aspects, fantasy fiction theme, gloomy characters and gloomyanti-normal plot.The second chapter discusses the art form of Zhang Yueran’s gloomy novels,Including three aspects,cold imagery, grotesque language and intricate structure.Chapter III will to make a comparative analysis between ZhangYueran’s gloomywriting and other contemporary writers. Then, combined with her series of short stories published after2006, to find a self-change and breakthroughs in her gloomywriting. The conclusion of the paper will make the overall evaluation of ZhangYueran’s writingChapter IV initially explores the reasons of the formation of Zhang Yueran’sgloomy writing and the aesthetic value and limitation of her novels. Above all,theobjective reason of her Gloomy Writing is the alternative writing method undercommercial background. The subjective reason is the author’s worldview and literaryview which is the focus of narrative. Mainly focused on the affects which the intrinsicvalue of the position and the impact of emotional factors on literary creation.Secondly,her Gloomy Writing both has irreplaceable aesthetic value,but also has its inevitablelimitations. The article will make a detailed analysis on the content, form and otheraspects.ZhangYueran’s novels regard the exploring of the inner world of young people asa starting point. By describing the growing experience in campus life and thesentimental feelings of the female images to realize the purpose of looking forself-identity. The rich psychological world and the feelings of emptiness andconfusion in the commercial society are welcomed by the majority of students.However, the strange rhetorical method and the extreme language as well as the eerieplot has made her novels lost the solid foundation of the literature. It is undeniablethat as one of the most influential young writers, she always stick to the sincerity ofthe literary creation, the observation of human nature and the quest for the meaning ofexistence.Her novels have unlimited possibilities in themes developing and artisticinnovation.
