Polyphony music, which is antithetical to homophony music, is a form of counterpoint. It is also called contraposition. Polyphony music is successively superposed by two, three or four tunes which have the same meaning but are independent of each other in music and can be harmoniously interweaved to play together. But stepping into the second half of the eighteenth century, the leading role of polyphony music was replaced by homophony music gradually. Back to the music of the twentieth century, under the influence of New Classicism, many creation techniques in music which has been forgotten revived once again so that they were used and combinated better in music creation. However, in the different situations between "the classical music in eighteenth century" and "the modern music in twentieth century", these two composers, Britton and Mozart had a great difference between the methods and ideas on the interpretation of music due to their different backgrounds. Therefore, this thesis puts the same music work with the same theme of these two composers---" Requiem " as a blueprint, trys to analyze based on "Polyphony Technique" primarily, on orchestration and arrangement of harmony for auxiliary, and then makes a deep comparison and comprehensive analysis.
