The application of romantic style by Chopin, the outstanding composer that must bementioned in piano history, has exceeded the limitations of the Times and made greatcontributions to the development of piano music.Chopin’s ballade, as a classic concertpiece, not only poses certain difficulties and challenges for performers in technology,but also proposes a test to the music sensitivity and control ability of performers in theexpression of music. Romance is not only the name of the Times of Chopin, but alsohas become a symbol of Chopin’s style. As a piano work genre created by Chopin,ballade expresses Chopin’s music features incisively and vividly. There are fourballades in Chopin created four ballades in his lifetime, Ballade in f Minor is the onewith the most sincere emotions and the most beautiful melody, and it perfectly showsthe unique romantic style of Chopin.This thesis, starting from the development of the ballade genre and combined with thecharacteristics of the romantic period, emphatically analyzes the romantic factorscontained in Ballade in f Minor and applies them to the annotation for performance ofthe work. The research process first manifests the basic work, including the analysisof composer, genre and details, and finally it returns to the performance. In this way,the musicology, composition theory and personal emotional expression are combinedtogether, and the performance skills can be annotated comprehensively andprofoundly.This thesis can be divided into four chapters: The first chapter mainly elaboratesChopin and his romantic period and includes two sections, in which the lifeexperience of Chopin, his creation stages and music style are introduced, and theinfluence of the Times on Chopin are emphasized; the second chapter,Chopin ballade,makes an overview of ballade and also includes two sections, which respectivelynarrate the origin and development of ballade and the main influencing factors to thecreation of Chopin’s four ballads; in the third chapter, the romantic style of Ballade inf Minor is expounded and four sections are divided to explain Chopin-featuredromance contained in the work from four aspects, i.e. cultural background, rhythmfeatures, musical form features and musical modes; the fourth chapter is an annotationfor the performance of Ballade in f Minor starting from the expression of workcontents, combined with the symphonic woven body, melodic development and alsotaking the performance of the author into consideration.
