As the first academic writing which specializes in pronunciation, shiming explains the meanings or evidences of words which the common people used at that time. Palace architecture is necessary in people’s life, the words which explain these architectures deserve our research. This thesis chooses shigongshi from shiming, explaining the relations between explanation and being explained, it also compares these words with the same ones from erya·shigong, explore the Chinese culture through the meaning of the palace words. This thesis can be divided into the following several parts:First of all, it is introduction part. This part mainly introduces the current research condition related to the theme of the thesis, the resources of the materials in the thesis, research methods and meanings.The first chapter researches the way of explanation of palace words in shiming·shigongshi. Shiming is china’s earliest voice search work of etymology, mainly adopt the way of shengxun to explain words. So this thesis is based on shengxun, classify words which explain and the ones been explained according to the voice relations, analyze the author’s point of view. There are some words that are not clearly demonstrated shengxun in the chapter, we divide it in the way of semantic gloss, that is method of directly stated, include direct state the name meaning and naming justification.The second chapter compare the same palace words from shiming·shigongshi and erya·shigong. Shiming and erya are classic exegetical book of han period, they both explain palace words. So this thesis selects the same palace words to compare, analyze of similarities and differences between the meaning and methods of explanations. By comparison, we found there is a inheritance and development relationship between shiming and erya, it is helpful for our further study the meaning of words of the han period and even before.The third chapter mainly researches the Chinese culture the palace words in shiming·shigongshi show. Palace words refer to the palace architecture of human beings, also implied the human culture. So this thesis from the palace words and live, fengshui, cosmology, yili this four aspects to illustrate the ancient Chinese culture that the palace words reflects.Conclusion part, it mainly summarizes the main structure of the thesis and main content of each chapter, and point out some deficiencies of this thesis.
