Since the 1990s, with the acceleration of the process of globalization and the development of popular culture, that literary image is constantly parodied has become an important culture phenomenon of the era of reading. In this context, the image of Sun Wukong is also constantly parodied with many forms and complex content. This not only has something to do with Sun Wukong’s own nature, but also has something to do with the process of Globalization and Chinese social and cultural context. Because the phenomenon that Sun Wukong as a classical literary image is constantly parodied becomes an important reflect of the present social culture, so it has unique aesthetic connotation.This article puts the parody phenomenon of Sun Wukong’s image since the 1990s as the research object and puts parody theory and popular culture theory as the theoretical basis. This article will firstly sort the literary works that parody Sun Wukong’s image in China and in the west. Then this article will clarify the parody strategies that these work taken when they parody Sun Wukong’s image. Further, this article will analyze the deep reasons of the parody of Sun Wukong from the point of view such as history, politics, mass media, the market economy and globalization. Finally, this article will further look the aesthetic significance of the parody phenomenon of Sun Wukong’s image.Because this article will research the parody phenomenon of Sun Wukong’s image since the 1990s, so we must firstly make the boundary of parody and connotation clear. Only in this way can we make a better analysis of the specific aesthetic phenomenon. But today, connotation of parody is rich and complex. Parody is not only a kind of rhetoric and writing technique, a kind of style, a category of aesthetic, but also a kind of cultural phenomena and cultural zeitgeist, a kind of humorous way to look at the world, a kind of unique aesthetic psychological structure and thinking mode. Therefore, based on classifying the core meaning level of "parody" such as "imitation" and "funny", starting from the cultural context since the 1990 s, this article puts consumption culture, mass media and the globalization as analysis perspective. Through the method of comparative analysis we can clarify the parody strategy of Sun Wukong’s image and that why it is repeatedly parodied. On this basis we can analysis the aesthetic value and significance of Sun Wukong’s Parody image. At the same time, this article linking parody with Sun Wukong’s image not only with a specific example examines parody of the social and cultural connotation, but also expands the research about Sun Wukong’s image which is a classic image. This is the meaning of this article.
