Research On Dongwu Prose

Accustomely, people tend to take Cao Wei literature as the representative of Three Kingdomliterature and pay little attention to Dong Wu and Shu Han literature. However, Dong Wu alsohas its own literature, especially in the field of prose. The number of Dong Wu prose is large andit also has famous writers and outstanding works. Given the current academic circles of DongWu prose’s research is lacking, the thesis attempts to choose Dong Wu prose as the researchobject. Based on the text, combined with various background factors, the thesis studies thecontent, the background, the style and the influence of Dong Wu prose in order to have a wholeclear evaluation. The thesis is constituted by an introduction and five chapters.The beginning is an introduction which discusses three questions. The first is the reason andsignificance of the topic. The second is the status and the trend of the topic, including the booksand the papers which concerned. The third is to determine the content and the method of theresearch. It also determines the starting and the ending of time of Dong Wu prose.The first chapter introduces the backgrounds of Dong Wu prose, focuses on the followingaspects: the first is the geographical environment and the economic development in the Jiangnanregion; the second is the civilization and the literature tradition in the Jiangnan region during theperiod of Pre-qin and Han dynasty；the third is the academic culture of Dong Wu; the fourth isthe age factors such as the social and political backgrounds, the general ethos of society.The second chapter mainly discusses the official document, including Zhaoling andZouyi.In the stylistic analysis of Zhaoling, related to the character, Sun Quan, Sun Xiu, Sun Hao,we can see their ruling strategy and different personality. The number of Zouyi is very large,mainly involves three aspects:about political, about recommending candidates, about militaryand diplomatic. Besides, there are a few about reward, thanks, refuse, literary and culture. TheZouyi plays an important role——the key of ruling, which show the authors’ politicalenthusiasm and wisdom. Some of them speak their ideas boldly, some of them show their viewscarefully who care about their writing ways. The Lu’s articles is a phenomenon which worthy ofattention.The third chapter mainly discusses the epistolary writing, the argumentative essays andothers. The content of epistolary writing includes: the foreign affairs and military affairs; thecomment on people and things; the persuade words; the confession; the personal feelings. Thearticles not only be full of strong purpose and practically, but also express their personal feelings.The argumentative essays is few, however, there is no lack of high—quality goods. In addition,there are also inscriptions, preamble and so on. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the masterpieces which have strong literariness.According to the existing materials, this part discusses them by section. Dong Wu’s Diji ismainly about figures and things, few about landscape. It is fresh and alive, and it also has stronglocal colors that is a big characteristic of Dong Wu prose. Dong Wu Zishu includes Confusion,Zajia,Taoist, Mingjia. The specific content involves political, customs，people, and some aregood at thoughts.The fifth chapter is a generalization and summarization of Dong Wu prose. It tries tointegrate the previous chapters to have a real and appropriate evaluation of Dong Wu prose. Thecharacteristics of Dong Wu prose include: first, era actors are obvious; second, geographicalcharacteristics are significant; third, the author team consists of two parts; fourth, the totalstyle is plain but there are also elegant and marvelous onesThe influence of Dong Wu prose reflects in three aspects. First, it produces some famouswriters and outstanding works. Second, Dong Wu prose with Cao Wei, Shu Han prose build theera style of the Three Kingdom. Third,it conveys some writers to Jin Dynasty.Given the above discussion, we have a clear understanding about Dongwu prose. Inconclusion, Dongwu prose has its own Characteristics and value, and it should has a position inChinese literature.
