On Shen Congwen 's View Of Human Nature

As one of the famous writer in the history of modern Chinese literature，Shen Congwen wasinfluenced by Western literature, Chinese literature, regional culture and personal experience,and as a basis for building himself`s unique literary concept of human nature, which wasimportant for the creation of the development of literature and literary theory.Shen Congwen expounded the value of humanity and the pursuit of life by means of hisunique perspective of humanity,and always keep his attention on the life though humanismtenderness.Meanwhile, his ideas of human nature had been fully demonstrated in his literarycreation.His theory of human nature exceeded the geographical boundaries, which broughtabout Chinese literature to the world, and the modernity characteristics of its literature view ofhumanity Nature which also had practical significance.Although the academic study of humannature to Shen from the text has been quite integral, but those studies still lack systematicintegration and further improvement. This paper attempts from a macro point of view to expoundand analyze Shen`s literary of human nature.The thesis is composed of three sections，namely introduction，mainbody and conclusion.The main content of introduction is about the research results and present situation of ShenCongwen`s humanity theory. Which discusses the value of this topic and the perspectives，innovation and the research ideas and methods in this paper.The mainbody including four parts.Chapter one，the connotation of literary concept ofhumanity of Shen which coexistenced between the rational and emotional. With a rationalexplanation for life as with emotional tenderness to life and obsessed with the pursuit of theperfect life form. Section one，the description of humanity was the important literary concept ofhuman nature from the text of the Shen. It contained three aspects of human nature which werenatural resistance, alienation of humanity and the ideal.While he expressed the hardship of lifefor the people of western mercifulness, and he quickly discovered the souls of these people inignorance factor，thus showing a great concern for the future of mankind.Section two，the pursuitfor the perfect life that performed Shen`s persistent belief in it. On the one hand，he praises theexistence of natural humanity which is also the evil of life，on the other hand it should becoexistence between the evil and divinity in perfect form of life which in Shen`s opinions. Chapter two，the performance of humanity and literature view in his novels. In first section，not only the praise and retain to the nature of humanity that appeared Shen`s appreciation forindependent life and the helpless for the alienation of humanity，but also expressed hiscommitment to life as a reasonable explanation of literary ideas.Section two is for the perfectideal of humanity demands.It represents the ultimate pursuit of life’s persistent faith of the shapeof Shen Congwen`s life.Section three, the compassion and worries about the underlying life thatreflected Shen`s mercy for hardships of life on the underlying characters. That the state ofconsciousness to their own lives caused his silent and deeply concern. The tenderness of Shenshowed great humanitarian feelings，while practiced his Literature view on the creation ofsentient.Chapter three expounds the reason for forming of the view of humanity and literature. Thefirst section is the reason of background. Mainly was the claims of “Literature is the subject ofhumanity” in the Fourth Culture Movement that provide the ideological sources for theformation of Literary view. Section two is the cause of personal experiences. There were threeaccounts that made Shen owned a sensitive inner world. The first is the misfortune of his familyand status，the second is his obsession to nature when he was a child，another is the lonely life ofmilitary.Section three is the impact of national regional culture. One side，western culture, Taoistphilosophy of life influenced Shen`s view of human nature and the concept of life and death. Theother side，not only the romantic treacherous of Chu Culture made Shen possessed moreimagination and thinking，but also increased piece of paranoid to himself.Chapter four is with regard to the evaluation of Shen`s pursuit for the humanity. The firstsection shows the modern character of Shen`s humanity. On the one hand, which reflected in therational reflection of modern civilization, on the other hand in the embodies of consciousness.Section two is about Shen`s limitations literary concept of human nature, that is, for absolutefreedom and the pursuit of too much value for empiricism. Which not only limited the content ofmacro grasp of human nature,but also weakened the significance of Human Nature. That wasunfavorable for the creation and development of literature.Finally，the conclusion is overall summary and evaluation of the content meaning of humannature.
