Cape No.7, Monga, and Orz Boyz, which come out in Taiwan in2008are the turning pointin Taiwan film history. These films represent a fresh life in the dispirited Taiwan film market.In2007, there are only four Taiwan native films with disappointed box office earnings in theTaipei Top10Chinese Film. While in2008, Taiwan native films turned around the situationboth with quantity and with gross in the Taipei Top10Chinese Film. The lead of Cape No.7creates a trend in Taiwan native film market. In the meanwhile, the structure of film has beenreshaped, and the market has been prepared. This article involves discovering the aestheticstendency of Taiwan film in recent years by the analysis of Taiwan films in2008, which as thekey point to compare with the films come out before and after, to outlook the future of Taiwanfilms. To achieve this goal, three respects are involved in, which are film genre, narration, andfilm language.Chapter one is the summary of the development of Taiwan film. The age of dilemma ofTaiwan film after New Film Revolution is shown, and reasons for market downturn areanalyzed. By the contrast of films after2008, the possibility of recovery of Taiwan film isdiscussed from both the inner and the outer side (government, industry development, andartistic explore).The purpose of Chapter two is to explore the fresh part of Taiwan films in recent years interms of genre. Gang film, Love story film, Gay film, and Youth film have the features thatnever exist in traditional film. These features build the foundation of the development ofTaiwan film.Chapter three and Chapter four are talked about the development of Taiwan film in detail.The changes from narration and language provide the evidence for the fresh life of Taiwanfilm. Specific cases are analyzed to show the new spirit and aesthetics characteristics.This project is to show the change of inner value and spirit core of Taiwan film through theirrecovery in recent years. The aesthetics tendency of Taiwan film is digging out level by levelfrom discussion about situation, genre, to ontology of film. The goal is to find the experiencefor future development.
