Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroqueperiod. He was born in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach, into a great musicalfamily. His father, Johann Amborsius Bach, was the director of the townmusicians. His father probably taught him to play the violin andharpsichord. All of his uncles were professional musicians. Bach’sabilities as an organist were respected throughout Europe during hislifetime, although he was not widely recognized as a great composer untila revival of interest and performances of his music in the first half ofthe19th century. Felix Mendelssohn significantly contributed to thehistorical recognition of Bach’s reputation as a composer with hisfinding of the St Matthew Passion in the library in Leipzig and his1829Berlin performance of the St Matthew Passion. The Inventions and Sinfoniaswas written by Johann Sebastian Bach as his son, Freeman‘s birthday gift.He started on January22,1720and completed in two years. Bach named itafter the Italian opera Sinfonla. The Inventions and Singonias is anessential course that every piano student needs to learn, especially theTwo-and Three-Part Inventions. The study of The Invention and Singonias is relatively rare in China. Basedon the documents regarding the era of Baroque music style, this paperinvestigates the music style and performance techniques of Bach’s15inventions. The paper also presents a thorough summary on Bach’sthree-part invention, and offers an in-depth analysis for future pianostudents. It is my sincere wish that more students will develop intereston this composite.
