Cesare-August'Franck (1822-1890) was an organist, composer and music educator inthe latter half of the19th century. He was called as “Father of Modern Music” in France anddevoted himself to the revitalization of French art as well as the great contribution ofpromoting the development of music career in France. He was the founder of The FrenchNational Association. Furthermore, he was a well-known figure throughout music history inFrance. During his whole life, his major works involved hunting chamber music, organ, pianoworks, oratorio, opera etc. He expressed his devout and sincere religious sentiment andaffluent inner world by his unique music style.“Prelude, Choral and Fugue”, as a key and typical piano works in his late period,combined classic form, romantic emotion and pursuit of religious affection together. Based onhis era and his own life experience, this paper follows Franck’s style and analyzes his workfrom his pursuit of religious affection. By means of his own performance practice and thecollection of acoustics, this paper illustrates thoroughly Franck’s performance and makes acomparison of music style between the fugue of Franck and that of Bach.
