Anthropology, as a subject being depth and breadth,visions of which should study not only the ancient culture disappeared or being disappeared, but also contemporaneous social life of human. Visual Anthropology is a kind of applied and foresight subject. There are many sorts of works on film and television, but all of them are created basing on reality life needs of the human being. Those works become a part of the culture which affect the mankinds, just like that, Cartoons have being changed human’slife and impacted the inherant idea of thought. In the field of cartoon, Hayao Miyazaki has been an influential culture symbol.According to eleven cartoon films, Hayao Miyazaki considers the value of cross-times that the human beings have conversation with the world and the times.So his works have the obvious characteristics of anthropology, which should be th text of the anthropological studies.The artile tries to analyses and study about Hayao Miyazaki’s works from the angle of view on anthropology film and television in order to change original pattern of film criticism.The article is divided into seven Chapters, the emphasis of every chapter is different from the others.The introduction part, from the perspective of Visual Anthropology proposition, explore academic disputes, Visual Anthropology existing features, function, significance and main research object, and the Visual Anthropology research both at home and abroad in the field of theory construction and the application practice of the status quo, and select classic directors and film and television text to the meaning of visual anthropology research.Chaper I, including Hayao Miyazaki’s Life, works, summarize on his study and research methods in the paper of anthropology in film an television.The author should analyses cartoon works by the way of ethnography and disscuss the impossibility which the works on film and television becoome texts of study.Chapter II, Dream and Myth, comparing Hayao Miyazaki’s cartoon works with human myths in the ancient, analysesing the relation of his works and the myths of all ethnic in the human history by means of quantized form. His works based on some myths will resonate all over the world by the unque style and technique of expression.Chapter III and Chapter IV, Original Hero and the Hero’s Journey. The auther analyses the cultural significance on different original hero by classify of protagonist’s type in his works.The original heroes appeared repeatedly in the myths and legends of different peoples around the world and gradually become a part of the modern human collective conscciousness. An by means of comparing the heroes’ life in Hayao Miyazaki’s works and the real life. Both of them have a striking similarity.And Hayao Miyazaki proposed what the human being.Chapter V, comparision analysis of the new work, “The wind rises”, and works in the past, we can find out the similarities and differences among them.The author analyses female image, Keiko,and compares different times of Japan in the current and before World War II, we can get the result that there are many strinking similarities in real life among them.Chapter VI, The Choice of Time,Hayao Miyazaki wants to pass on the choices of person and society through his cartoon works., as people are confronted the challege and choice of the multiple culture. The author considers that it is important significance and influence of real life to discuss the cultural symbol- Hayao Miyazaki. The author makes a bold assumpition,which Hayao miyazaki’s works are far-reaching influence on the Japan cartoons and the the films of the world.
