An Empirical Study On The Application Of Media In Virtual Chinese Language Community

With the progress of the time and the rapid development of technology, mobile phone, computer and Internet are becoming more and more prosperous and popular. A new mode of Chinese spreading outside the classroom is booming. Represented by short message service, blog, web review, the era of We Media is coming and is playing an unprecedented role in international Chinese spreading. Thus, Chinese teachers who are in America can take advantage of the characters that We Media as a civilized, personalized, covenant-lite, easy-to-operate, interactive and propagative media to build up a virtual Chinese language community in a short period of time in order to cover the deficiency that Chinese teaching in America lacks the target-language environment. In this way, students in America can communicate and share information with Chinese people in China or even all over the world. With using Weibo, Chinese learners can repost and comment on the current hot issues in China to improve he ability of writing Chinese characters, comprehension and expression in Chinese; with using QQ and Wechat, Chinese learners can send voice messages in Chinese to improve the ability of listening and oral Chinese by chatting with friends. Chinese teachers can also correct student’s mistakes and give instant feedback; with using Facebook, Chinese learners can participate in any Chinese communities and Chinese learning groups remaining within doors to improve their Chinese abilities.On the basis of the scholars’ research, this paper used three investigation methods:microcosmic system analysis method, case study method, case analysis method, quantitative and qualitative research method. By researching and analyzing how to use We Media to build up a virtual Chinese language community in America, to make a request and provide a new method to meet the requirements of community in ACTFL five "C" standards. Total paper is divided into five sections:The first chapter is the introduction, mainly discussing the reason to write this topic and the significance of the research topic and briefly introducing research methods and main content of this research. According to research results of scholars, this article also defines the definition of microcosmic system analysis method.The second chapter introduces the definition of community according to ACTFL five "c" standards. By discussing the requirements and modes of community, this chapter analyzes the reason why it is difficult to meet the requirements of community in America.The third chapter introduces the definition of We Media by discussion its characteristics and pattern of manifestation. This chapter also related the different patterns with Chinese language community and made a detailed analysis.The fourth chapter is the design and implementation part of building up a virtual Chinese language community with using We Media. The writer built up a Chinese learning group on Facebook and made a detailed analysis according to daily quiz, weekly assignment and examinations. This chapter discussed the problems in the whole process and provided some ways and indicative advices to solve the problems.The fifth chapter summarized all the opinions, make an introspection of the lack of this research, and put forward the prospects of its role and future research.
