| Tong Cheng School is one of the largest and influential schools in the Qing dynasty. Fang Dongshu(1772-1851) is one of the most representative writers and scholar of Tong Cheng School. He was born and studied in the Tong Cheng. His thought aspect the Cheng Zhu’s theory influence and he was dedicated to studying Li Xue of Song dynasty. The theory was the main target of his academic career. He has the quite tremendous influence in the Tong Cheng School. He devoted his whole life to researching and writings. Scholars have always been little attention on his poems and proses. On the basis of previous studies, this thesis takes Fang Dongshu’s poems and prose writing as the main object of study.The main body of this thesis includes three chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of Fang Dongshu’s family and his life experience. And also discuss his literary thought from two aspects. His literary thoughts produced great influence on his poem and proses.The second chapter makes a comprehensive of his poem’s ideological contents and artistic features. As for the subjects and contents, his poems can be divided into several categories: criticizing the current affairs, nostalgic poems, ancient-imitated poems, poems inscribed on paintings, etc.The third chapter is on Fang Dongshu’s proses. I’ll analyze and discuss the ideological content and characteristics of his essays. He left a number of essays and his writing has rich contents. As for the contents, his prose is relatively into several kinds, argumentation, epistolary proses, prefaces, postscripts, biographies,inscriptions. The purpose is discussing the general situation and aesthetic feature. |
