Fang Dongshu is a famous writer of Qing's Tongcheng School, he created a lot of literature works, and his poetics theory was also very important in the history of Chinese literary criticism. Besides his profound family academic context, Yao Nai paid great attention to him. His learning not only carried on various schools of thoughts, but also combined Han learning and textual criticism. However, all in all, Cheng-zhu Neo-confucianism was the ultimate goal of his academic ideas. In his life, he compiled and emended many old books, and the most representative left today was Note of Yuan-chun-Tang. Fang Dongshu spent plenty of time and energy on the collation of Note of Yuan-chun-Tang. His collation was not only limited to the parallelism and distinguishing of source material but extended to correct and supplement the deficiency of Note. There were more than nine hundred strips annotations. On the one hand, these annotations have important value in revealing the contents of Note and elucidating the theory of Yao-fan; On the other hand, these annotations concentrated reflected the achievements, characteristics and thoughts of Fang Dongshu's document study, especially of documental compilatry ,and so on.
