On The Adaptation Of Yuan Dynasty In Yuan Dynasty

As a content-rich comprehensive art, Yuan drama actively absorbs the outstanding tradition of the previous generation of narrative literature in the creative process. According to Diaofu Xu, the existing Yuan drama bibliography, the author counts a total of twenty-one existing Yuan plays adapted from Tang Legend. These works are produced in the background of multi-ethnic cultural conflicts and fusions, which contain a unique value and a profound influence on later ages. In this paper, the author will show a detailed analysis in the part of theme characters, plot, narrative patterns that how these twenty-one plays were adapted from Tang Legend.The first part of the paper carries a brief description of the twenty-one Yuan drama adapted from Tang legend. The second part of the paper mainly analyzes the reasons why Yuan drama was adapted from Tang Legend. A shock produced by Minority regime against traditional Confucian culture, the loss of traditional literary value, the weakened feudal imprisonment and the raised urban culture, produce important roles in the creation of Yuan drama. At the same time as a stage art, the Yuan drama also takes unique means of expression and the extent of audience acceptance into account. The third part of the thesis, the author particularly compares Yuan drama and Tang Legend to analyze the difference in their themes, characters, plots and the narrative models. The last part of the paper is an overview, summarize the ideological value, the artistic value, the spread value and the impact of literary and cultural influence of the Yuan drama, a generation from Tang Legend.The papers will screen out to sum up the existing Yuan drama,which are modeled on the Tang legend. In the transverse, the author sets forth the classification through different adaptation. In the longitudinal, the author study the comparison of Yuan drama and Tang Legend to search for the adaptation age motivation and the opera performance characteristics. In the study, the author also uses the methods of comparisons,lists, statistics to strive to explore the relationship between Yuan drama and Tang legend intuitively, specifically and comprehensively.The author also try to show the law of re-creation in the creative process of adaption from Tang Legend to Yuan drama.
