Yi Gai·Fu Gai is another impotant work in the history of China classical prose theory,after Gu Fu Bian Ti of Zhu Yao and Wen Xin Diao Long·Quan Fu of Liu Xie. It is the synthesizer of China classical prose theory.The paper includes Liu Xizai’s life and his writings,the introduction of versions of Fu Gai,the writing style and theory of that book and collation of Fu Gai.In the book,Liu Xizai not only talks about the history of Fu,but also involves writers and their works,which mainly focus on the Fu writers in the Six Dynasties like Qu Yuan and the works after Tang and Song Dynasties.Liu Xizai not only interprets predecessors’ meaning,but also presents some special viewpoint.For example,on the basic of ‘Fu is from Shi’、‘Sao is ancestor of Fu’,he presents the point of‘Fu comes from the society’,which is supported by Zhu Guang qian. When predecessors study the development of Fu,they think that‘Zheng Bian’theory is right, but Liu Xizai puts forward the new view as ‘Fu is evaluated by Zhen Wei theory,Zheng and Wei not as good as Bian and Zhen.’In the modern,there are three works about Fu Gai’annotation.All of them discuss the words’ provenance and meanings,also involve literary thought.The paper’s master copy is from Xu Xiu Si Ku Quan Shu,and the comparison is photocopied by Jiang Su ancient publishing company,which comes out in the thirteen years of Tong Zhi.It gives a comprehensive interpretation on both of the literatures provenance and criticism with a detailed intrduetion of its origin and of development.
