The Image Of Intellectuals In Chekhov 's Works

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904), as a world-famous great writer, in his short life left us a precious spiritual wealth. Study about Chekhov in China has been more than a century, with many related papers, monographs and articles. The thesis takes a review of research about Chekhov in China and abroad, and on basis of opinion from domestic intelligentsia about this subject. The thesis tries to research all the intellectuals in works of Chekhov, classify and analyze the progressive relations of all kinds of intellectuals as well. This article focuses on the characters of different periods in his works, and researches the process and development of intellectuals in different periods. Not only can we learn techniques, development of his creation, but also know the spirit of Russian intellectuals in different periods, so as to further understand the Russian literature and Russian intellectuals.This paper consists of an introduction, the body, and a conclusion. The preface includes the types of intellectuals in Chekhov’s early, mid and late works, and a literature review of Chekhov at home and abroad. The second, third and fourth chapter introduce the type of Chekhov’s intellectuals, their development, and the artistic methods.
