Popular words are the language forms that widely spread in a certain period, in a certain community and frequently used by people. They include morpheme, word, phrase, sentence and discourse. They can reflect the conditions of social politics, economy and culture; reflect people’s mental state, thinking mode and value idea. Popular words refer to person is an important part of the popular languages, they have referential function and use words-patterns and phrases-patterns as structure model, just like ordinary popular words, they are very novel in the ways of expression and can reflect the characteristics of the times and the public psychology. In the form, popular words refer to person generally use simple and novel forms to express abundant meanings, and often form fixed formats under the effect of meme. In the function, popular words refer to person not only have the referential function, but also very vivid, and a large portion of which come from fashion and reflect the fashion.The paper uses theory of Construction Grammar to study the popular words refer to person such as X di/kong/zu/er dai, zui mei X, gao fu shuai, which were named as "annual popular words" selected by YaoWenJiaoZi from 2008 to 2012. The significance of this paper is helping people understand and comprehend these popular words, and enriching Chinese popular words studies analyzed by Construction Grammar.Firstly, X di/kong/zu/er dai, zui mei X and three-word type popular words refer to person such as gao fu shuai are all Phrases Constructions. They can all be used to refer people who have some outstanding characteristics, and can all be used as subject, object or attribute in sentences. Secondly, each composition of them has its own characteristics. The X in X di/kong/zu are mostly double-syllable verbs or nouns, the X in X er dai are generally single-syllable adjectives, the meanings of di/kong/zu/er dai have been grammaticalized to some degree to affixzation. In zui mei X, the extreme meaning of zui gradually fade out, left the meaning of "greatness in commonplace" been highlighted. zui mei reflecting people’s kind-hearted, the nobility of human character. X can be taken by nouns that refer to person, such as occupation, identity, titles of relatives and so on. Three-word type popular words refer to person are made up of three adjectives. The adjectives are usually obscure, and the rank order of them is flexible. Finally, X di/kong/zu/er dai, zui mei X and three-word type popular words refer to person are formed under the effect of many factors, mainly include construction coercion, cognitive mechanism and mental mechanism.According to Pragmatics, the motivations of the constructions are analogy mechanisms, economic principles and the effects of linguistic rhetoric. Constructions of popular words refer to person also have ample pragmatic functions, such as prominent focal information, dynamic emotional colors and the communicative intention of drawing listeners’attention.
